'Snooze' tells the story of a young man waking up from a long dream-state coma, only to discover he was involved in a gruesome murder case many years ago, and still receives visits from dreamworld friends and foes.
He soon finds his imagination and his waking world tangled up, not realizing that each reality holds the key to the other.

This might actually be the first 'just for fun' piece on this weblog! I've been enjoying a short break from everything - part of that toying with nostalgia, a result being this Teela ('Warrior Godess').
I confess, 'Masters of the Universe' had a huge impact on me as a little boy. I immediately fell in love with these 'Frazetta toys', decided I also wanted to draw and paint (like Frazetta) and at the same time helped me discover at a very young age that I preferred women.
If any editors out there are considering adapting the old, Conan-like pre-cartoon storyline of 'Masters' to a comic book/graphic novel, please give me the job!
Step 2: editor picks favourite again, me tries to swallow the fact that own favourite is not picked (also, again... ) and jumps back behind the drawing board and me paints loads and loads of long, wavy hair to ease the pain.
Me loves drawing long wavy hair on people. Even the guys get some when me finds the chance.
This particular haircut draws inspiration from japanese tentacle art.

Quicker than expected, here's the cover proposals for Snooze II.
This story has a bit more action and a bit more vintage 'Film Noir' sexual tension than the first one, so I started there.
As you can see my personal favourite (the 'Giant Staring Head') makes a return for round two.
Another first look at Snooze II. This one is now over halfway finished, with already more twists and turns than you can shake your hips at on Salsa Night.
Working with Snooze writer Kid Toussaint has been a great experience, and I'd be more than happy to join forces with him on future endeavors. Who knows, it just might happen...
(Wait, does salsa dancing even involve twisting hips... ?)
Look what I found lurking around on the internets: a big load of high resolution concept art for Overlord II on Gamona.de! The game has been in stores for a while now, so if you haven't played it yet, what's keeping you? In the meantime, check out the pictures. 'Alice' will be telling the story of a young, outcast witch on a quest to find her father, in a world where heroes exist, even though nothing they do makes any real difference. So in a way, with 'Alice' I'll be introducing the 'Disillusioned but Intimate Fantasy' genre. This was originally a co-production with Romano Molenaar, whom I served with in the same platoon back in 'Nam, but now he's doing 'Storm', I'll be picking up this story on my own in the near future. When the day comes it'll be the coolest thing I've ever done.
Here's some brief previews for Snooze II. The first book will be in stores around February 2010 (only in France for now), with this one soon to follow. And yes, we're still looking for a publisher for anywhere outside of France, including The Netherlands, or we'll all have to practice our french. 
In the meantime I'm looking at some new stories to do after this - watch this space for more on that soon...
Just some 'early stage' critters I designed for a game project I sadly ended up not having enough time for...
It's outrageous how whoever decided that days should only last 24 hours has never been brought to justice. Just as the one that invented sleep and our need for any of it.
Still no pupils. Look for that elsewhere, pupil-lovers!

As always, I try to spend as little time as possible on these designs,
to prevent thinking and analyzing and preserve that 'initial idea is
usually the strongest' spontaneity. Analyzing just sucks the life out of
character designs.

Meanwhile, backstage, the editor will provide a logo and overall graphic design, which will hopefully rock all our socks off.
